Founded in the early 20th century by Benedictine monks from the Abbey of Saint-Maur de Glanfeuil in France, the Abbey of Saint-Maurice in Clervaux rises above the Clerve valley with its majestic silhouette. Built between 1909 and 1910 in a Neo-Romanesque style inspired by Rhenish art, it remains an important spiritual and cultural landmark in the north of the country. In addition to its monastic role, the abbey houses a valuable library and a workshop dedicated to religious art.
A collector coin in silver and Nordic gold, presented in an educational and illustrated booklet, pays tribute to this emblematic edifice, a testament to the architectural and historical heritage of the Grand Duchy.
