The Banque centrale du Luxembourg issues a new collector coin dedicated to Luxembourg’s biodiversity every year. The coin series “Fauna & Flora” benefits from the expertise of the “Hëllef fir d’Natur” Foundation, which acts for the protection of endangered plant and animal species.

The new 2020 coin focuses on the common bistort, whose leaves are the sole food of the caterpillar of an increasingly rare butterfly: the violet copper.

The BCL joins the Foundation’s efforts to preserve the fragile balance of nature, its plants and the butterflies that depend on them.
